San Blas hermitage is on an excellent location, surrounded by oak trees, on a hilltop near the town center. As most hermitages at the Basque Country, it’s simple but elegant, place of worship and pilgrimage for the people of Zerain since the 17th century. The blessing of food on Saint Blaise day to prevent the throat pain is made in this hermitage.
The altar, the holly water font, the small choir and specially the Mudejar style balustrade are its main features. Outside we can se the corten steel sculpture “The ways of the moon” made by Jexux Jauregi.
The hermitage and the surroundings create a special place. Worship and nature bind in this place, and offers a great space for relaxing.
